"Happy Tails" - Success Stories

Parsley

Last November my wife and I adopted Parsley, a 6 month old gray tabby cat, from TSPCA. He had (as I recall) been found wandering the grounds, abandoned at the shelter.

Parsley managed to "seal the deal" on his adoption. (during our visit to meet the cats) in a funny way. He was napping on my wife for about 15 minutes while we were visiting the cats. While I was with some other cats, my wife kept saying "what about Parsley?"... until I finally said "well, I don't know -- he hasn't even come to see me yet". Right then (and I'm not making this up!) he opened his eyes, climbed off of her, and came and curled up on ME.

I said, "dang -- he's GOOD." *lol*

Anyway, he's doing fine with us. He gets to play with the in-laws' dog, and Parsley is now a BIG boy. Not fat(!), just long 'n strong. He still curls up on us, and the only "bad habits" he has are (1) an obsession with "people food" (probably from scrounging when he was a kitten just to survive), and (2) attempting to "bury" his leftovers (probably from his kitten days as well). Other than that, he helps us with laundry, cooking, and losing small objects under the furniture. He's VERY smart -- easily the smartest animal I've ever known.

Here is a newer picture of our "boy", with his animal best friend Roxie (a rescue dog w/our in-laws).

Mushroom

Now that we are more settled in, I wanted to give a brief update on Mushroom.  She seems to like her new home, especially after her bed (the couch) was finally moved in.  The dog parks here are wonderful!  Here is a picture of Mushroom, exhausted from a day of play at the dog park.

A funny thing happened the last time we were at the dog park.  A mother and her 4 kids came into the park with their golden mix and their jack russell terrier.  The jack russell took a liking to our small dog, Gillette.  As he became "amorous" with Gillette, one of the boys cried out to their mom, "Look mom!  They're playing football!"  Luckily, both parties were fixed, so we will not be expecting any NFL teams of our own.
